Jim’s 44 years of experience as a professional artist and instructor make him one of the most accomplished instructors around. People consistently talk about how much they walk away with from this workshop.
Jim has once again decided to host his popular plein-air workshop during the height of Jackson Hole’s mild mountain summer. His most popular workshops have always been about painting on location. He is well known as a plein-air expert, especially with his beautiful and distinctive paintings of the Teton Range. You will enjoy painting some of the most spectacular views in the world here in Jackson Hole, where Jim has lived and painted since 1969. He loves sharing with students his vast knowledge and experience in painting landscapes.
Jim continues to garner awards. Among his large list of accomplishments are the coveted Prix de West Award and the Remington Award (twice) from the Prix de West Show and the $50,000 grand prize from the Arts for the Parks competition. Many magazines and other publications have chosen Jim’s work for cover stories and other articles, including a 2008 article in the spring issue of Workshop Magazine which convinced Jim to keep teaching workshops.

In Spring 2008, Jim Wilcox's plein-air workshop in gorgeous Grand Teton National Park was featured as the cover story for American Artist's Workshop Magazine. The article was so popular, they ran a variation of the article again in the Spring 2011 issue.
