20-Minute Paintings
“The Watercolor Sketchbook: Journaling in the Tetons”
Joe is returning with his fresh take on plein-air painting. After a successful workshop with great student feedback last year, Joe has again decided to focus on one of a plein-air painter’s greatest assets: the ability to sketch and paint quickly with more accuracy. Luckily, his class will enjoy sketch-painting some of the greatest subject matter on earth on location in Grand Teton National Park.
To maximize the learning potential for this class, Joe’s demonstrations will be 20-minute sketches. He will teach and encourage his students to do the same as they work quickly enough to capture the vital while leaving the details for later. Students will take home a notebook filled with reference material and knowledge from doing their own sketches.
As always, we are excited to have Joe come with his world of experience and expertise in watercolor painting. This unique class with Joe Bohler will be a great experience.
Joe has been a professional artist for nearly 40 years. He has great mastery of his craft and teaches it well. Joe has a long, impressive list of awards and honors, among which are awards from the National Academy of Design, the American Watercolor Society, and the National Academy of Western Art. He exhibits in many of the top shows in the country, and numerous books and magazines have featured his work.
CLASS DESCRIPTION: Students will fill a watercolor sketchbook with small sketch-style paintings of Teton experiences for future reference and enjoyment. Joe will demo 20-minutesketches in one picturesque plein-air location to begin each day. Students will be expected to do four to six sketches per day. Notes may be added to the sketch for clarification and crucial reminders of light, mood and other important factors.
TUITION: $475
