Ke Shan Yang was born in 1944 in Henan Province, China. He grew up in Qingdao (Tsingtao), a Yellow Sea port. He had a passion for painting since his childhood days. He began to learn painting from Ye Boquan in the sixties. He also worked under masters like Gao Quan, Cui Kaixi and He Konde. He graduated from the Beijing Academy of Fine Arts specializing in oil painting. |

Ke Shan Yang had participated in numerous exhibitions within and outside China and has won many prizes. He exhibited his works in Singapore in 1989 and 1990. He is a member of the Chinese Artists Association. He is a professor at the Beijing Peili University. He is an honoured National Senior Artist.
During his career, Mr. Yang has embarked upon many paintings of a monumental scale at the Chinese Military Museum. He has painted a vast variety of subjects. He has a plethora of themes which he has depicted accurately in the most realistic fashion employing rich and vibrant colors. His zest for life radiates from his works.
As an ardent practitioner of the School of Realism, he believes in depicting the beauty of nature in the most life-like manner possible. He is able to exhibit the stark and naked strength and also the more delicate and fragile sides of nature. He believes in the merger of art and life, that both art and life are linked inextricably. He has his own style of painting which is the culmination of his experimentation with various techniques. He pours his entire soul and life to work miracles with oil paints and canvas. As a result, Mr. Yang is an eminent member of the Chinese community of artists and has contributed greatly to the development of realistic oil painting in China.
