| In 2007 alone, Drummond not only received third place in the Artist’s Magazine’s 24th Annual Art Competition (which receives more than 11,000 entries), but David was chosen by Mrs. Laura Bush to create the White House Christmas card painting “East Colonnade.” The painting is now part of the White House permanent collection. We are excited to bring David back to teach his watercolor class. He does an excellent job in teaching his masterful techniques in an organized and meaningful way. Drummond has made a name for himself as one of the Southwest’s most recognized watercolorists and workshop instructors. He works hard at both. He is most recognized for his beautiful and expressive depictions of water and rock from Lake Powell. For full bio click here. | ![]() |

Drummond was raised in Pennsylvania where he studied and gained his footings in art. From there, he moved to Colorado for his graduate studies, and received his doctorate in physics. He began a career in the Air Force, but his passion for watercolors prompted him to leave the Air Force and begin painting full-time in 1986. He was elected that same year to the American Watercolor Society, and the next year to the Watercolor West Group.
Drummond has been included in the Arts for the Parks Show with 14 paintings in 14 years. He won the Founder’s Choice award in 2005, and many times his pieces have been chosen for posters, prints, and postcards.
